A recent study by Fertility Network UK has reported that a majority of those going through IVF feel a lack of support and some have symptoms of trauma and PTSD.
This may sound shocking to some and to those who have not experienced the emotional rollercoaster of infertility and IVF treatments. But, sadly, to us, it confirms what we see in the women we support and in our own lived experience of IVF.
Much of the feedback that we receive from women going through IVF, is that even if the outcome did not bring them their baby, that the support they receive from us, has been what allowed them to feel more sane, to feel heard, to feel understood and met in their despair, anger and heart-break. We do not want any woman going through IVF feeling that they are facing this alone.
If you are embarking on IVF, whether for the first time, or after previous rounds of treatment, please do talk to us about whether we can help. Acupuncture offers physical and emotional help as we prepare for pregnancy and we hope that as practitioners, we can hold you and walk beside you during this arduous rollercoaster.
