Acupuncture Recommended For Anxiety And Depression

We see many patients who come to us suffering from anxiety and depression. Anxiety is probably one of the top 5 conditions for which people seek our help. Usually a course of 6 sessions brings promising results and a decline in symptoms.

An encouraging article was in the Express at the weekend, highlighting why acupuncture may be a great form of treatment for these debilitating conditions.

Here are what some of our patients have had to say about their acupuncture.

Following a previous bout of ‘depression’, bought on by menopause, under-active thyroid/who knows what, I was urged by my sister to try acupuncture rather than go back onto anti-depressants. My first session with Caitlin was in May 2012 and I felt an immediate improvement. I’ve now had 9 treatments (initially weekly then monthly for maintenance) and can honestly say that I have not felt as happy with myself and my life for a very long time. I feel balanced and me once again!

I work in a high pressure environment and had been suffering for some time with work related stress and anxiety – I just couldn’t ’switch off’ and relax – and it was really wearing me down. Caitlin had been recommended by a work colleague and it had got to the point where I felt I had to do something about the problems I was facing.

In the initial consultation, it felt great to get the problems on the table and after my first session I felt the benefits almost immediately. Although I wouldn’t say I was sceptical, I didn’t expect to feel so different, so quickly. It was a real result. After just a few weeks treatment, I can safely say I felt like a different person. I was finding it much easier to chill out and not bring work anxieties home with me. I also found it much easier to deal with the day to day pressure and overall, I felt more ‘balanced’ as a person.

I have also received treatment along the way for hay fever and tennis elbow- both of which have responded really well to the acupuncture.

Although I am not good around needles, my experience of acupuncture with Caitlin couldn’t be further from that – the treatment is relaxing and I really look forward to the next session as a real ‘time out’ from the real world.

I would definitely recommend Caitlin to anyone thinking about alternative treatment – it’s definitely made a big difference to my life.
